Audio Domination

… well, probably not. But I’d certainly like it.

As you may know, I used to do a weekly video news update here at Sibdu. While it was a blast to do and really tapped into my old television skills, it took too long to produce, edit, render, etc. So I unfortunately had to call it quits last September.

Now that our Sibdu social network will soon be coming out of our quiet beta for a full launch, I felt it was time to bring back some kind of true multimedia news channel that brings the whole idea of openness and social networking for commercial real estate to a wider audience. Video, though, is still out of the question, because of time constraints. And let’s be honest, I have a face for radio (to quote an old broadcast joke).

So, Sibdu will be all over the whole audio thing. It’s easier and takes much less time. In fact, we’re going to have two different shows/offerings:

  • An audio newscast of the top stories from commercial real estate, as pulled from the news feeds that come into every Sibdu account. My goal is to do this show every day, but for now it’ll probably be 2x-3x/week.
  • An audio interview / call-in show, just like your basic talk radio show, but without all the shouting and political vitriol. At least, without the politics.

Here’s the first newscast, which will be downloaded to your computer. It’s less than 2MB, though, so it won’t crowd your hard drive. Sorry, I can’t figure out how to shoehorn a streaming-media player into this really old version of WordPress. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed of the series here. And it is already on iTunes (man, they move fast).

While the first newscast — really a test more than anything else — is ready to go, I’m not sure when I’ll do the first interview/call-in show. One thing’s for sure, though — from what I can tell, the BlogTalkRadio platform I’m going to use is very easy, so producing it should be a snap. Plus, it’ll have call-in lines and everything! The old radio guy in me can’t wait to start doing it.

Now, if someone would just inject about 4 extra hours into the day. I’ll be all set after that.
